Internet access although slower, phone functions, PS news bulletins, disaster notices, government information, events in local area, firmware upgrades. In rest mode a PS console could be connected 24/7, the question of missing out because of a lack of a wired conection would be eliminated. Annual subscription could be used to lower costs, good for people who don't play online much. For example.. 10€ per month versus 40€, it makes a difference. The idea of satellite connections should also be considered for people in remote locations. It too could be a low cost alternative in the future for all users. Sony should look into cost effective connection options for consumers.
